Be a better wife. Imagine that, a young wife wanting to be a better spouse to her husband. In my case, I just want to put my husband’s needs before my own (at least majority of the time – no one is perfect!) Hubby will be required to travel 50% of the time this year. Which means he will be required to have 8-10 overnights a month. Traveling that often can be difficult for anyone. So it’s my intentions to make his life pleasant and relaxing while he is at home. I want our home to be a place where he feels at peace. He works so hard and does everything he can to make me happy, so it’s time I begin doing the same for him.
Start cooking more (and start cooking better as well.) This resolution is two-fold. First, it will be nice for hubby to have a home cooked meal when he is in town. Traveling as often as he does requires constant eating out so I want to cook for him when he is at home. Additionally, it will help us to save money. During the recent holiday we have spent so much money eating out. When I think of what we could do with that money – pay off student loans, make improvements to our home – it just seems ridiculous to waste that money eating out all the time. So I’m going to try some new recipes and master our favorites.
Gain control over my eating habits and exercise routines. I’ve already blogged about my reasons: New Year, New You Giveaway
Be a better friend. Over the past three years since I have graduated from college, so many friendships have fallen by the waste side. To be honest, many of those friendships weren’t exactly “keepers” to begin with. I’m starting to realize that if you have 4 or 5 great friends who will be there for you no matter what, you are truly blessed. I am actually lucky enough to have friends like that. I want to spend this year cultivating those friendships and spending time with people who enrich my life – not worrying about others who never really added value to my life in the first place.
TRAVEL! Hubby and I have so many places we want to go before we have children. Last year we went to Jamaica. This year (since we are trying to buy a boat), I think we are going to focus on some Stateside travel. We would like to go to Vegas at some point and NYC for Christmas. Hopefully Steven will rack up those frequent flyer miles through work and we can get some good deals to great places. Any other suggestions?
Join a church. Steven and I spent much of last year visiting TONS of churches in our area, and I think we have finally found a church we feel called to be a part of. Now it’s just a matter of walking down the aisle and moving our memberships.
Complete a full marathon or complete the US Marine Corp Mud Run. I would prefer to complete the mud run (It looks so cool -USMC Mud Run) However, that requires a team of four and I’m not sure just yet if I will find 3 other people to commit to the race. If not, looks like I will be running a marathon at the end of the year. Either way, I’m going to continue to challenge myself physically. There’s just something exhilarating about knowing you have accomplished that you never thought possible.
Continue to blog and build my following. I have enjoyed blogging so much over the past few months. It’s the closest thing to a “hobby” that I have. If my blog reaches 75 followers, I will create a blog award. If my blog reaches 100 followers, I will host a giveaway. So feel free to share my blog with your friends!! I love reading people’s comments and reactions my crazy life.
Figure out my Grad school situation. As an accountant, I know that I need to go back to school and either get my MBA or Master’s in Accounting. My boss is also encouraging me to sit for my CPA license. I know that all of these would be beneficial, but I just can’t get my butt in gear. I love just being a wife and I’m having great success at my job as it is. So by June of this year, I need to have a plan. Time is ticking away and within a few years it will be time to start a family so I really need to get the show on the road. What to do…what to do….
So that’s about it. Basically I want to overhaul my life, huh? Wish me success because I’m starting to realize that type of woman I want to be and the type of woman I actually am from day to day. So here’s hoping I have more success in 2010 than I did in 2009.
I also thought I would share some pictures from our New Year's Eve. :)
My wonderful hubby
Two of my favorite men - always keep me laughing!
Some of those *great* friends I mentioned earlier.

Awesome resolutions. I want to do the Mud Run, but I'd go to complete not compete hahaha
I just read your blog entry, and seriously, it was probably almost exactly what I would have written when blogging about my new year's resolutions...well, minus the wife part (not married yet!). I have done four half marathons, and I promise, it is one of the most rewarding things I have ever done. Good luck with everything in the new year! :)
Thanks for stopping by my page. I think I am going to start a food journal. I just picked up the new self magazine with Carrie Underwood on the cover. SHe too said she uses a journal. I just gotta stick to my new healthy lifestyle. With a hubby that can eat whatever he wants whenever, it's hard lol
I look forward to reading more of your blog!
I am loving reading your blog. You are so funny. Your resolutions are good ones. Having four kids we can't afford to eat out much, and you're right it's a waste of money to do it too often. If you are in want of recipes, feel free to take what you want off of the recipe blog I started recently as part of one of my new year's resolutions. http://embryfamilyrecipes.blogspot.com Oh and by the way....I'm not really some weird, chatty stalker lady...I found your blog through your mom on FB. We met through the CTMH consultant BB's. :)
