Think Happy Thoughts

Do you ever watch a show just because it makes you feel better about your life? I recently watched an episode of "Wife Swap" that was BIZARRE! One of the wives firmly believed in one's ability to manifest their dreams and desires. She claims that she was raised in poverty and had a strong desire to be wealthy and successful. She cut out pictures of homes and cars that she wanted and "thought happy thoughts" about those things and WHAM - she got them.

Can you hear my skepticism? If I could just wish my dreams into existence I would quit my job right now and spend all day daydreaming. But I'm not so sure that would turn out too well for me and I wouldn't suggest you do so either.

But, I am a person of faith and I do believe in seeking God's wisdom and direction in your life. I also believe in the power of positive thinking - not so much that your thoughts can impact your circumstances in a tangible way (like making a house appear out of thin air) - but your thoughts determine your attitude which determines your actions - which can have an impact on your circumstances.

You know my love for all things Post It - well I thought I would put this "Happy Thoughts" idea into practice. So I gathered a few of my favorite inspirational and motivational quotes and have placed them in strategic places in my office, wallet and car as a reminder to myself to remain positive and hopeful and to believe that God wants to bless me.

What about you?  Any inspirational quotes or mantras that get you through your rough days?

I hope you're having an inspired Tuesday morning and that you keep your head up no matter what life may throw you today!

this quote comes from the great philosopher, M. Scocco. "we're not here for a long time, we're here for a good time."

I loved this post! We talked about "managing your mind" in church on Sunday. Apparently God is trying to tell me something. ;) I especially love that you used a John Wayne quote. That man is my hero :) I grew up watching every movie he was ever in!

Philippeans 4:6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything,by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God. And the peace of God which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
This helps me through many days :) Happy Tuesday!!

So right Amber! Thanks for sharing these thoughts and quotes. Would you mind if I use some of these on the quote marquee on my blog? I'm always looking for thought-provoking and inspirational quotes to share there. It's all about the way we choose to face as we walk through life: towards the sun, or away from it. Interesting you were talking about the "name it and claim it" thing. I've actually been musing lately about what I can be doing more proactively about some goals/desires I have. Nothing to that extreme, but have been convicted about making a "game plan" to help me achieve some.~

Ephesians 3:20 "He can do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us."

Amber these are really inspiring! Thanks for the uplifting thoughts today. You're such an encouraging writer, there's always so much sentiment behind each of your thoughts. Have a great day!

I love that Marilyn Monroe quote!! That book The Secret is about thinking of good things and then them coming true. Supposedly that's "the secret" to life. I am not on board with that. I agree that you should definitely believe in yourself...but you must believe in God and pray for his will in your life...not yours. I loved this post girl and I hope you are having an awesome day! :)

Great post. =) I think I needed that. I get kinda down thinking about Joe deploying. I suppose I need to remember that God can get me through it if I can't get me through it.

Love these quotes!! One of my favorites is: "We can do no great things, only small things with great love." ~ Mother Teresa.
(I like the quote so much, I had it engraved on a bracelet :)

Wow! Thank you for this post! I'm going to have to post-it some of those quotes, too!
One of my favorite is: 1 Cor 2:9
'However, as it is written: "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him"'
Hope you're having a fabulous week, lady!

Wow this post was phenom! I have starred it in my google reader and can't wait to revert to it for some strong words of inspiration! Thanks so much! I also think people believing too much in the power of thought and not enough in the power of prayer can be going down a dangerous road. Sounds like that lady was a bit into the power of thought. I agree with you. And like Same Sweet Girl said, I've heard The Secret tries to lay too much belief in our inner self and then whatever you want will evidently happen. I've heard it's laced with Bible scripture to make it appear Christian but it's not. I've not read it to know if its true, but thought it interesting it reminded both Same Sweet Girl and myself of that. Thanks for such a great post! xoxo

I don't have any special mantra, but I suppose that thinking positive about anything helps you a lot to get through tough times. And also, that having dreams help you to advance in your life, keeps you motivated and going...

Cute post! Hope you are having a great week!

Blogging and the people I have met really help keep me in check, some people have really serious problems, like cancer and babies dying, etc. So who am I to complain!

I've been looking for some motivational/positive quotes to help me refocus and recharge! Thanks so much for sharing some really great ones! :)

My life mantra is "Carpe Diem". I believe in it so much that I gave myself a permanent reminder - a tattoo! :) You only live once, so don't waste a single day!
