You Better Not Blog About This!

I had a revelation last night as hubby and I were recounting our daily activities to one another. I was blabbing on about my productive day at work when he interrupted, “Oh yeah – very productive – two blog posts in one day. Which reminds me….I hate you a little!” (Don’t worry, he said it with a smile and wink, he doesn’t really hate me!)

I gave him my most innocent, whatever could you be talking about dear smile and said, “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” To which he responded, “Percy Jackson – Percy Jackson! I told you not to blog about that!” Oh - yeah, my post yesterday - whoops!

He didn’t seem too upset about it….so I just continued on as though nothing had happened.

But I have to wonder. Am I the only blogger who receives the disgruntled caveat “YOU BETTER NOT BLOG ABOUT THIS!” from her spouse on a regular basis?

It never fails – every time Steven makes a comment that accidentally makes it sound like he thinks I’m fat I hear it. Or those incredibly hysterical mishaps during private moments between a man and wife (who have two boxers in the bedroom – that’s all I’m saying) – oh yeah, I definitely hear “YOU BETTER NOT BLOG ABOUT THIS!”

I swear – I hear these words on a weekly basis, if not more often. Is it sad that my poor hubby is afraid that I might share his/our most embarrassing moments with the entire blogging community? (In my defense – I never share the really personal stuff. I do have a tiny filter. And I also tell on myself WAY more than I tell on him!)

But I believe in real life blogging. While I enjoy giveaways and product review (obviously – because I host them on my blog) I truly enjoy reading about the everyday happenings of my favorite bloggers lives more than anything. So I also want to share openly and candidly.

So again, I’m the only one who receives these warnings? Admittedly, they are often in jest as I hope Steven knows I would *never* share anything too personal.

I always tell him, if you were a blogger, you would understand!

Ha, nope! My husband has even told me not to take pictures of him that will show up on my blog!

However, most of the time I will say he is a good sport about it!

I get that sometimes and then I also get the reverse...usually when I say something stupid and my husband looks at me and says 'go blog about that right now!'

LOL!! Too funny. My husband has never really cared if I blog about him. He does always ask me "Is that for your blog?" Or "are you putting that on your blog?" Hehehe. :)

I am all about real life blogging too! And I love that you are so open and share such fun/funny stories! But tell him he is not alone, I get the words of worry from my guy as well! :)

PS... the Insanity work out range from 30-60 minutes, but there is a lot of stretching and warm-up, so the time really flies by! I definitely recommend it if you are looking for something effective, quick, and diverse!

Oh, sister, I could have written this, too! My husband always says that! And I too have a filter, tiny, though, as well. But I think we love blogging because we are real. About ourselves and the ones we love. Which is why I tell the hubs sometimes, "But I HAVE to blog about this! It's too good!"

Too funny! I always love your stories, because they ARE honest and hilarious!

Robbie hasn't said too much to me about the blog now that he is home from Iraq, because he doesn't really read it anymore. I'm not complaining :)

I get those, too! Probably not as often (since my hubby doesn't usually read the blog), but definitely sometimes. I also get the "I can't believe you blogged about that" when I later tell him... oops!

I don't get the "You better not blog about this," I get the, "This is going on your blog isn't it." Or like last night when he was getting his hair cut and the stylist did something funny, I was playing Bejeweled on my phone and he thought I was about to take a pic. He even told the stylist this was going on my blog. ha!

This is hysterical! Liam says this too me all the time!! I'm glad our guys think alike.

Ha! I get the exact opposite. He wants me to blog more about him! :)

I always get this-he reads my blog everynight-like he has to approve it or something-ha!

We just had a funny night that had to do with us and our boxer pup in the bedroom! haha and yes I get that too =) sometimes the only thing that holds me back is because of the family I know that reads my blog, or else some of these things that happen would totally be a post!

Ha! Too funny! I actually made a pact with my BF when I first started blogging that before I posted anything in my blog about him that I would ask myself "Would he say this about himself?" If the answer is no, then I have promised him I wouldn't blog about it...however, I may have had a few mishaps...oh, well! =)

I get it all the time. Most reently, on our road trip, he had to go to the bathroom, so I told him I would pull over [as we were in the middle of nowhere with no rest stop in sight!] he said no, because he didn't want to end up on my blog... I guess since this is your blog and there's none of the hysterical pictures I took, it's ok.

I get it ALL THE TIME!

I hear it all the time!!! :)

This post made me laugh! My Steven tells me the same thing all the time! Most of the time it goes along with some picture I've taken though!

Yes, my husband has to give me reminders every once in awhile that the conversation we are having is for our ears only and not cyber space. Silly men.

Angela Noelle said...

Absolutely! I also get "Are you going to blog this?" or "You should blog this" from... well... everyone!

Sandra said...

No, i have to admit, my hubby secretely hopes I'll blog about him. I catch him doing stuff on purpose just so I'll give him a shout out in one of my posts!...shameless, eh!

Whitney @ EHFAR said...

My boyfriend has said that to me only before, but only a few times. He doesn't really read my blog, except when I show him. He has said, "You should blog about this... is this for a blog." Hehe...

Anonymous said...

Lol!! I haven't gotten those yet.. but every time I pull out my camera I get the "yup, just thinkin about your blog world" comment.. haha. It's bad I started taking more pictures because of the blog and he's picked up on it..

Sorry I've been MIA for awhile, but I can't wait to catch up on your blog! Happy Week Ahead!!

Love this! It just happened to me last night. My husband was in cleaning and organization mode in our house and I told him he was nesting. He asked what that was and I told him its what pregnant women do to prepare their house for a baby and he said "please don't blog about this." Cracks me up :)
